Twilight Hotel....

Hailing from the fertile music scene of Winnipeg, MB, Brandy Zdan & Dave Quanbury met in 2002 at the Trout Forest Music Festival in Ontario. The sparks flew in a fever, and they realized the power of combining their talents. Twilight Hotel have been compared to such memorable folk duos as Ian and Sylvia and Johnny and June because they radiate that certain elusive chemistry that can only come from two people in love singing together. Couples that make music together rarely find harmony in their relationships; Zdan and Quanbury are hoping to buck the trend with their personal and musical partnership in Twilight Hotel.

Twilight Hotel has teamed up with producer Colin Linden to record, Highway Prayer, the follow up album to their critically acclaimed 2006 release Bethune (nominated Best Americana Album at the 2007 American Independent Music Awards). Highway Prayer continues the duo’s provocative love story showcasing their characteristic dark twang and noir cabaret all the while centered around their rich vocal harmonies. Recorded in Nashville, TN, Highway Prayer, features prolific guest musicians including the late Richard Bell (Janis Joplin, The Band), Stephen Hodges (Tom Waits), and Dave Roe (Johnny Cash). Highway Prayer has recently been nominated as Outstanding Roots Recording (Duo/Group) at the 2008 Western Canadian Music Awards as well as Video of the Year for their single Viva La Vinyl.

The 12 original songs run the gamut from the opening rockabilly jump manifesto, Viva la Vinyl, the street busker feel of Shadow of a Man, to the heartbreaking confessional closer Sand in your Eyes. Their repertoire combines songs inspired by their off stage life together on the road and are informed by their uniquely Canadian sensibilities.

Highway Prayer has been garnering critical praise both nationally and internationally debuting on the Euro Americana Chart at #2 in June of 2008, top 5 status on the Canadian Earshot and Galaxie charts and chart status at dozens of stations across the USA. Highway Prayer has recently been nominated as Outstanding Roots Recording (Duo/Group) at the 2008 Western Canadian Music Awards as well as Video of the Year for their single Viva La Vinyl. To top that off Zdan & Quanbury received a nomination as 'Best Emerging Artist' at the 2008 North American Folk Alliance Awards. Constant touring in the U.S.A, Canada and Europe continue to bolster the duo's profile. In 2006/2007 they played over 200 North American tour dates at venues, festivals and music conferences.

Coffee With Conscience Concert Series

Ahrre Maros is the owner of Ahrre's Coffee Roastery in Westfield & the Fair Trade Coffee Company on line. He has been presenting live musical events since 1992, when he first opened the Common Ground Cafe in Summit. The Cafe is gone now, but Ahrre continues bringing Professional Touring Musical Artists to the area for the benefit of the local community and several local Charities.

Currently, Ahrre presents the Coffee With Conscience Concert Series in Westfield, which is a Seven-show Series which acts as a fund-raiser—raising much needed funds for worthy causes—while providing the participants with the opportunity to attend quality performance events near their homes, providing an audience with a cultural experience, providing artists with a venue to display their talents, and generally strengthening the local community by bringing a group of people together for an evening of music in a comfortable setting.
